Palliative care

In 1993 the Ambulance Service for oncological patients was arranged on the basis of the Kazan Oncological Dispensary, which had no analogues not only in Russia, but also in the CIS countries. Since 2003, 7 mobile teams have been working in the palliative care department, they are equipped with communication means, medicines, medical devices for the round-the-clock palliative care. This is the only mobile service in the Russian Federation that provides round-the-clock palliative care in the large city. The hotline for pain relief issues and psychological support has been created on the basis of the department. 2 mobile medical teams function in the following cities – in Almetyevsk since 2015, in Naberezhnye Chelny and Nizhnekamsk since 2018. Beds providing palliative care are integrated into the departments of the oncological dispensary, which makes it possible to apply all types of special treatment to this category of patients.
