Facts and history

For over 66 years the Tatarstan Cancer Center has given hope and life to thousands of cancer patients.
Our center used to be one of the key institutions of Soviet Union and nowadays it is keeping leading positions not only on the territory of Russian Federation, but also on the territory of Former Soviet Union countries, including countries of Middle East, Caucasus and Eastern Europe.
Tatarstan Cancer Centeris in charge of cancer care situation in the Republic of Tatarstan. It means that our Cancer Center provide specialized treatment for more than 4 million people that  live in the territory of 67 836 square meters.
Tatarstan Cancer Centeris located in Kazan, the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan. Kazan is a well known student city with established institutional traditions and medical schools as well. There are 13 Institutes of Kazan — Scientific Center of Russian Academy of Sciences and 30 Universities of Higher Education of Russian Federation on the territory of Kazan.

Every 54th inhabitant of Tatarstan is now being followed-up in Tatarstan Cancer Center with diagnosis of cancer (overall amount – 70 057 patients). Tatarstan Cancer Center has its branches in Kazan, Almetyevsk and Naberezhnye Chelny and has 1145 beds for patients, which means that the Center is designed for the treatment of 1153 cancer patients simultaneously.
More than 25000 patients treated annually in inpatient departments of Tatarstan Cancer Center. We provide more than 15000 wide range surgeries each year.
The modern, up-to-date equipped and completely reconstructed Center of Nuclear Technologies was re-opened in 2011 and is able to provide patients with following diagnostic and treatment options: distant radiotherapy, brachitherapy, specialized computer tomography, SPECT-scanning, CT scanning, PET/CT etc.
Preventive care and patient education campaigns are regularly organized in our Cancer Center, such as School for Cancer Patients, School for Cancer Patient Caregivers, Newspaper “Vestnik Zdorovya” (Health Bulletin) is released monthly, and different types of screening programs are carried out.
Tatarstan Cancer Centeris the leading cancer center on the Volga district of Russian Federation. Chief physician of TRCCC Professor Rustem Khasanov is the head of the Volga District Cancer Institutes and Centers Association. Association involves 15 cancer centers and institutes that together provide treatment for more than 31 million people. Tatarstan Cancer Center is the member of the Organization of European Cancer Institutes(OECI).


The mission of the Tatarstan Cancer Center is to provide state-of-the-art treatment to the cancer patients via intensive development, assimilation and implementation of novel evidence based technologies and diligent patient care.


In Tatarstan Cancer Center collaboration is established with many internationally known Centers and Institutes, such as National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Fox Chase Center (USA), Instituto Nazionale dei Tumori (Italy) etc.
